State Meet Postponed

WEATHER UPDATE: The CHSAA Cross Country Championships have been cancelled for October 31, 2009 and rescheduled for November 7, 2009. The course has over 18 inches of snow and the recommendation from facilities and for safety and travel concerns is that we postpone. The CHSAA has contacted the Fort Collins Conventions and Visitors Bureau regarding hotels, but assistance in cancelling reservations would be great appreciated. The original time schedule of 9:30 am start will be in place on November 7th. Presale of t-shirts will be at the Hilton Hotel on Prospect from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on November 6th.

Directions: Lyons High School’s address is 100 South 2nd Ave., Lyons, CO, 80540. From I-25, take Highway 66 west past Longmont. After you go through the light at the intersection of Highway 66 and Highway 36, you will continue approximately 1/2 a mile. Take a left immediately after the “Welcome to Lyons” sandstone sign and cross the bridge over the river, proceed to the 3-way stop sign, and continue south (left) to the school.

Course: The course is the same one we’ve run for the past few years for our scrimmage, St. Vrain Invitational and the regional meet in 2007.

Uniforms: We will follow the state packet in regards to uniforms and hats and gloves. Please make sure to review the jewelry rule with your athletes.

Qualifying: The top 40% of full teams (5 members must finish the race) and the top 15 places will qualify for the state meet.
Awards: The top two teams receive regional plaques. The top 15 individuals receive ribbons. (There are no awards for the open races.)

Dakota Ridge Invite Info 10-6-09

The Eleventh Annual Dakota Ridge Invitational cross-country meet to be held on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009. The meet will be held at Dakota Ridge High School off of C-470 and Bowles Avenue in Littleton. The Silver Creek Raptor Varsity runners will be competing in the Boys and Girls Varsity Division 2 races, times are listed in RED below.

The course will be on trails around Hine Lake located directly behind the school. The distance will be exactly 3.1 miles or 5k. Course maps will be available at the meet.

Due to the large number of schools attending, the varsity races will be broken down into two divisions based on enrollment. Bigger schools will be in Division I, smaller schools, Division II. If you are a medium sized school, contact us before the meet to determine which division you should compete in.

The time schedule for the meet is as follows (note the differences in scoring):

2009 Raptor Season Results

The 2009 Sweetheart Invitational Cross Country race will be held in Loveland, Colorado at North Lake Park located just west of Loveland High School on Friday, October 2, 2009. Lucile Irwin Middle School will host the middle school races.

Middle School Boys 2:30 pm

Scoring:
Varsity teams will consist of seven runners, the first five runners on each team will make up the team score. An unlimited number of runners can run in the open races. Adjustment for runners without team scoring potential will be made. Team scores will also be kept for the open races.
Scoring and timing will be provided by Runlimited of Fort Collins

Awards:
Awards will be presented to the top 10 in every division (to be given out at the awards ceremony). Team plaques to the top 2 teams in the varsity races and the top team in the open races. It is the responsibility of coaches and athletes to pick up awards, as they will not be mailed if not picked up race day.

Course:
The cross-country course is a 2-loop course that winds through North Lake Park and surrounding area. The terrain is true cross country that includes mostly grass, some concrete, sandy beach, hills and crossing a small set of train tracks. Spikes or racing flat shoes are recommended.

Bus Drop-off:
All Teams and athletes need to be dropped of in North Lake Park; busses will then be directed to satellite parking areas.
Do not use Loveland High School parking lot for drop-off

Restrooms:
Restrooms will be available in Loveland High School plus four other restroom locations in the park will be available.

Team Camps:
Camps will be allowed in areas that do not interfere with the course and other park activities.
Teams are required to pick up trash at their camp after the meet.

Trainer:
A certified trainer will be available for injuries and ice will be available if needed.

Concession Stand:
There will be a concession stand available near Loveland High School.

Course Monitors:
Course monitors will be set up along the course to prevent cutting of the course.
Please stay on marked course.

Directions:
From I-25 take US Highway 34 Westbound (Exit 257B) to Taft Avenue in Loveland. Turn right on Taft Ave. and drive approximately one mile North to Northlake Park. Turn right into North Lake Park. Main entrance is immediately to the North of the fire station.
